NBC airs the 14th episode of the military drama The Lieutenant, created and produced by future Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry and starring Gary Lockwood (2001: a space odyssey) and Robert Vaughn (The Man From UNCLE). Madlyn Rhue guest stars.
Captain Rambridge and Lt. Rice are summoned to a civilian airstrip under somewhat mysterious circumstances, where they are introduced to a young boy named Li – a child that Rambridge and his now-ex-wife had applied to adopt prior to their divorce. Rambridge tries to convince the boy’s social worker that his current lifestyle is completely at odds with adopting a young boy…which doesn’t change the fact that Li is in the United States, and in need of a family, now.
