At the Hotel Carlton, Paladin is approached by a man who is doing so much not to draw attention to himself that he’s drawing attention to himself. Mr. Taylor wants Paladin to break up his impending marriage to a woman he says is his housekeeper. But she’s also there with him. Pretending to be interested in buying some of Taylor’s land, Paladin agrees to take the case. Watching Taylor and his future bride interact, Paladin is quick to determine who’s wearing the pants in this relationship – but rather than breaking them up, Paladin takes it upon himself to fix them up, though this may be a painful experience in matchmaking.
