Night GalleryNBC airs the 29th episode of Rod Serling’s Night Gallery, an anthology series of original short plays and short story adaptations hosted by Serling himself. Victor Buono (Batman) guest stars in the second season closer, and the first instance of a Night Gallery episode telling a single story in a half-hour time slot, which will become the show’s new format in its third season.

Night GalleryNBC airs the 43rd and final episode of Night Gallery, an anthology series of original short plays and short story adaptations hosted by Rod Serling. Susan Strasberg guest stars. The series will resurface in syndication, but cut down to half-hour form, often severely truncating or even omitting story segments from the earlier hour-long episodes and, bizarrely, incorporating equally significantly edited-down episodes of the hour-long Gary Collins series The Sixth Sense (also produced by Universal) with new Rod Serling intros to pad out the syndication package.

Star Trek: The Animated Series: Beyond The Farthest Star

Star TrekAfter years of denying that Star Trek had ever been a “kids show” like its prime-time rival Lost In Space, Gene Roddenberry agrees to NBC’s offer to restart the science fiction cult classic as an animated series, premiering on the seventh anniversary of the live-action show’s debut with the episode Beyond The Farthest Star.
