K-9: Regeneration

K-9UK cable channel Disney XD airs a one-off “sneak preview” of the first episode of K-9. Filmed in Australia, this series is aimed at younger viewers, and is the brainchild of original K-9 co-creator Bob Baker, who has been trying to launch a K-9 series since the 1990s. Other than the character of K-9, the show has no other ties to the Doctor Who universe, since the BBC is not involved. Read more

Tron UprisingThe prelude to the animated spinoff series Tron Uprising airs on Disney XD. Originally devised as ten mini-episode teasers, Beck’s Beginning is recognized as a strong enough story in its own right to serve as a full episode-length pilot. Star Wars: Rebels: Spark Of Rebellion

Star Wars: RebelsCable channel Disney XD premieres the first full episode of the series Star Wars: Rebels, a CGI animated storyline falling between the original and prequel trilogies of the Star Wars saga, featuring a cell of rogue Rebels fighting the totalitarian Empire. Though technically in the same continuity as its predecessor, Star Wars: Clone Wars, Rebels is the first Disney-produced Star Wars project following the studio’s acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012. The first episode is roughly 43 minutes in length, a typical length for hour-long US television drama, but most future episodes (except for select “event” stories) will run 22 minutes long. Read more
