Streaming service Paramount Plus releases the 21st episode of the Star Trek prequel series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, created by Akiva Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman, and Jenny Lumet. Melanie Scrofano (Wynonna Earp) guest stars in the third season premiere. 
Stardate not given: The Enterprise is vastly overmatched by the weapons and defenses of the Gorn ship. Even planting a means of tracking the Gorn is a costly and risky maneuver that can barely be accomplished before Pike has to order the ship away to a safe distance. When the Enterprise reaches a rendezvous point with Starfleet withing Federation space, Admiral April pays Pike a visit, questioning whether the captain’s personal involvement with the crisis at hand, including Captain Batel and the missing crewmembers, is compromising his decision making. Pike, on the other hand, is infuriated by Starfleet’s insistence on remaining uninvolved in a conflict that the Gorn seem likely to widen whether it’s met with action or inaction. In sick bay, Chapel struggles to find a solution to Captain Batel’s condition. With M’Benga having been abducted by the Gorn along with much of the search and rescue team sent to Parnassus Beta, Chapel needs someone to help her brainstorm treatment methods, and Pike assigns Spock to help her, despite the fact that their strained feelings may prove to be an obstacle. In engineering, Scotty finds himself put to work quickly, but Pelia and Pike still have a few things to teach him about urgency. The Gorn ship is tracked to a binary star system whose radiation will likely overwhelm the Enterprise’s shields, but it’s likely to be the last chance to rescue the abducted crew and colonists. Inside the Gorn ship, La’an frees her fellow crewmembers and begins planning an escape. There are no easy options, and no options at all that don’t come at a high cost.
