Doctor WhoThe 725th episode of Doctor Who (the 27th since the series’ revival) airs on BBC1. Tracy-Ann Oberman guest stars. This is the conclusion of the second season of the new series, and sees Billie Piper’s exit as a series regular. The end of the episode introduces Catherine Tate as future companion Donna Noble, leading into the 2006 Christmas episode. This episode is the first to pit the Daleks against the Cybermen. Doctor Who: The Runaway Bride

Doctor WhoThe 726th episode of Doctor Who (the 28th since the series’ revival) airs on BBC1, continuing the revived series’ tradition of including a special Christmas episode. Comedian Catherine Tate makes a guest appearance as Donna Noble, a hapless bride whose wedding is called off by extraterrestrial events beyond her control. David Tennant’s former Blackpool co-star Sarah Parish guest stars as the Empress of the Racnoss, and this marks the first time in the new series that the Doctor identifies Gallifrey as his home planet. Freeman Agyeman, having played a very small guest role in the previous season’s finale, is introduced as new TARDIS traveler Martha Jones.
