The LieutenantWhen Captain Rambridge is displeased with the second platoon and its CO, he reassigns Lt. Rice to take charge, giving him only ten days to shape up the platoon before battlefield exercises. Sgt. Miller of the second platoon advises Rice to take a more democratic approach to his new command, and at first this appears to work well – Rice is able to coax better performance out of his new platoon than his hardnosed, by-the-book predecessor. But Captain Rambridge is betting that this kinder, gentler command style will backfire on Rice under real combat conditions – or even simulated ones.
