NBC airs the ninth episode of the military drama The Lieutenant, created and produced by future Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry and starring Gary Lockwood (2001: a space odyssey) and Robert Vaughn (The Man From UNCLE).
After conducting nighttime exercises, Lt. Rice is roped into helping Lt. Kelso by greeting Kelso’s fiancée, Carol Jean, at the airport and chaperoning her from there, but the last thing Rice expects is for Carol Jean to run into an old friend, Navy Lieutenant Scotty Boxer. The two are a bit too friendly, and Kelso can’t break away from his duties, so Rice winds up serving an extended tour as chaperone. A casual remark suddenly accelerates things, and Kelso and Carol Jean decide to get married⁄tomorrow. Now both Kelso and Carol Jean are leaning on Rice to make all the arrangements, but as Rice races to make a full formal wedding happen in the space of 24 hours, he detects cold feet on both ends of the happy couple.
