The LieutenantJust before being temporarily assigned to guerilla warfare expert Captain Ken Thomson, Lt. Rice receives a few friendly warnings from fellow officers: Thomson is tough as nails and shows virtually no leniency for mistakes. In the field, Thomson lives up to his reputation, even going so far as to dress Rice down in front of his own men. At the same time, Thomson is under scrutiny by his own commanding officer, who is concerned with the captain’s casual disregard for the expense of supplies and ordnance. Rice’s report on Thomson’s handling of the guerilla warfare training could determine the captain’s future.
