Battlestar Galactica: Part Two

Battlestar GalacticaSci-Fi channel airs the second part of the miniseries re-imagining of Battlestar Galactica. Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell star, with the script written by Ronald D. Moore (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine). The miniseries wins instant critical acclaim for its writers and cast, and many critics hail the new Galactica as the best Sci-Fi Channel original series to date. However, it takes some time for a full series order to happen, and will eventually involve an infusion of money from British satellite channel Sky One to be approved at all; this results in the first season airing first in the UK, and not until 2005 in North America. DiscoverySpace Shuttle Discovery returns to the International Space Station to add another major structural truss, resupply the station, and swap crew members. During this flight, the 75th spacewalk involving station construction takes place, moving part of the station’s solar power apparatus to another part of the station. Aboard Discovery for this flight are Commander Mark Polansky, Pilot William Oefelein, and mission specialists Robert Curbeam, Joan Higginbotham, Nicholas Patrick, Christer Fuglesang and Sunita Williams, who will stay on the International Space Station as its new flight engineer. Returning with Discovery is Thomas Reiter, who was flown to the station aboard Discovery in July.

Masters Of Science Fiction: Watchbird

Masters Of Science FictionThe sixth and final episode of ABC’s science fiction anthology series Masters Of Science Fiction, drawing on the genre’s literary greats and hosted by Professor Stephen Hawking, is broadcast. James Cromwell (Babe, Star Trek: First Contact), Sean Astin (The Goonies, Lord Of The Rings, Stranger Things), and Sally Kellerman (M*A*S*H) star in Sam Egan’s adaptation of short story by Robert Sheckley. This episode concludes the series.
