Cable channel Disney XD premieres the 22nd episode of the series Star Wars: Rebels, a CGI animated storyline falling between the original and prequel trilogies of the Star Wars saga. 
Actor Ron Glass, known for being a cast member of the 1970s/80s sitcom Barney Miller and for his stint on the short-lived but much-loved science fiction series Firefly, dies at the age of 71. He had reprised the role of Book in the Firefly sequel film Serenity, as well as in the multiplayer computer game Firefly Online, in addition to continuing to make guest appearances on such TV series as CSI, Agents Of SHIELD, and Major Crimes.
La-La Land Records releases the four-CD Star Trek: The 50th Anniversary Collection soundtrack box set primarily featuring music from the original series and The Next Generation, along with new works by Ron Jones and the premiere of a reconstructed selection of music from the 1970s Star Trek animated series.
The 850th episode of Doctor Who airs on BBC1 (the 151st episode since the series’ revival). Jodie Whittaker, Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill star. Alan Cumming (Goldeneye, The Good Wife) and Siobhan Finneran (Downton Abbey) guest star.
Streaming service Paramount Plus releases the 44th episode of Star Trek: Discovery. Chelah Horsdal (The Man In The High Castle) guest stars.
The 874th episode of Doctor Who airs on BBC1 (the 175th episode since the series’ revival), starring David Tennant and Catherine Tate. Russell T. Davies, Doctor Who’s showrunner from 2005 through 2009, also returns to oversee the series. The BBC and Disney form a partnership which contributes significantly to the show’s budget, but also locks Doctor Who in as a series on the Disney+ streaming service outside of the UK. This special celebrates 60 years of Doctor Who and adapts the first comic strip storyline ever to appear in Doctor Who Magazine.
