Support theLogBook.com!
On this page, you'll find some of the many ways you can help support
theLogBook.com. Few web sites are truly free - not even the free ones, which
force the webmaster to surrender large chunks of space for banners placed by
companies whose products may not reflect the site's interests or the webmaster's
own opinions. theLogBook.com is run banner-free - not only because there
is more than ample evidence that banner advertising is a dying (and not even
remotely profitable) fad, but because we want you to be able to enjoy the site
without any intrusions along the way. theLogBook.com does not and will not
sign on for any kind of pop-up, pop-under or exit-traffic advertising.
In a way, theLogBook.com is almost running on the PBS business model - you can
drop by and partake of all our cool stuff for free, but we ask that you help us
out voluntarily in return. Need to buy a book or a DVD or anything else? Feel
free to look for it through our affiliates' search boxes - we offer the ability
to order from Amazon.com and its subsidiaries in six countries, as well as
HMV (for audiovisual products in Australia and New Zealand) and
AnimèNation. Everything you
purchase through our links helps to keep theLogBook.com up and running. We
get a percentage as commission, and that keeps the site going. Unlike some
sites which solicit direct donations, we'd prefer that you just buy stuff
through our links to our sponsors anyway, so you have something tangible to
show for your efforts.
This site reviews books, games, and music on a weekly basis, with occasional
features also looking at movies and collectibles, among other things. This site
requires web storage space, annual domain renewals, and the broadband internet
connection that I maintain from home to do the research and updates to the site.
All of these things rack up and take a chunk out of the webmaster's income. By
supporting theLogBook.com through use of our sponsored links, you help defray
these costs and keep the site going in its present form. We truly appreciate
all those who have helped the site so far.
If you like, though I'm certainly not begging for goodies here, I also have
an Amazon Wish List (and a well stocked one too!), and hey, for the record,
I'm not opposed to getting used goodies. Anything and everything is
very much appreciated, though don't be too offended if I wind up
reviewing the stuff down the road - that's why the site is here!
