The Nest

InvasionFrustrated that no one can or will tell her about “what happens in the water,” Kira Underlay decides to find out for herself, but only finds trouble. Her ex-boyfriend Derek and a young woman named Christina appear, claiming to have swum to Homestead from an island camp set up by Kira’s father. Kira reluctantly goes along with them as they introduce her to petty shoplifting, but when they break into a beachfront house and then Christina stabs the owner to death when he comes home, Kira wants no part of it – but she has no choice, as Christina holds her hostage. Even Derek, who has become a hybrid himself, is unsettled by Christina’s behavior. As Sheriff Underlay begins trying to track Kira down, Russell and Mariel get together to find out exactly how much becoming a hybrid has changed her, but the results of their tests only open more questions. Kira’s questions about what’s in the water lead her away from her captors and into an encounter with one of the glowing aquatic life forms.

The Scourge

Stargate SG-1SG-1 is assigned as escorts for members of the International Oversight Advisory (IOA) on a trip to the Gamma site. For the most part the team is frustrated by the milk run assignment, although Daniel does welcome the opportunity to interact with the Chinese liasion and attempt to reduce some of the tension between China and SGC. Scientists at the site are investigating a new bug infestation that has been eating crops on planets visited by Priors. When one researcher discovers that the bugs are no longer eating plants, he tests whether they’re carnivorous. They are – and once they taste meat they begin to multiply so rapidly that the Gamma site is quickly overrun and the gate room lost. SG-1 tries to evacuate the IOA, but the bugs are on their trail. And once SGC loses contact with the Gamma site, Gen. Landry orders the Odyssey to deliver a chemical agent from orbit that will kill the bugs – and any humans left on the surface. If Carter can not find a way to break through the planet’s atmospheric interference, the bugs will be the least of their problems.

Coup D’etat

Stargate AtlantisLadon, a Genii scientist who served under Kolya during his attempt to invade Atlantis, contacts the city asking for help in curing a disease that some of the Genii have contracted. In exchange, he offers them a much-needed ZPM. Despite reservations about dealing with the Genii again, Weir cautiously offers to do the deal after Sheppard does an investigation. The story Sheppard finds, however, is different from the one that Ladon has told – he discovers that Ladon has apparently started a rebellion within the ranks of the Genii, taking an even more ruthless stance than Cowen. Based on this information, which a conversation with Cowen himself seems to confirm, Weir decides that Ladon’s offer is a con. Sheppard hatches a new plan: he should lead a special ops team to take the ZPM from Ladon by force. But when the plan is put into action, it seems that the rumors of Ladon’s resistance have been exaggerated…though the rumors of his ruthlessness are right on the money.

The Captain’s Hand

Battlestar GalacticaPromoted to Major and assigned to serve as the executive officer of Pegasus, Apollo finds himself thrust into a crisis as a pair of Raptor crews and their ships go missing. Worse yet, Apollo can’t agree with his new commander on how to recover those ships and their crews. The Pegasus’ commander, formerly her chief engineer, is in favor of an all-out rescue mission without sending a recon flight in first. When Admiral Adama forbids risking the Pegasus on a foolhardy rescue mission, the commander disobeys and does it anyway. Pegasus jumps away from the fleet…and right into a Cylon trap. Critical damage in engineering forces the ship’s commander to aid in repairs, and Apollo finds himself in command as Pegasus comes under a hail of nuclear missiles. President Roslin finds herself under attack as well, as the politically charged debate over an abortion collides with the reality that the human race needs to be repopulated. Just when she thinks she’s dodged a political bullet that could cost her the election, she’s stunned when Baltar makes the surprise announcement that he is running against her.

Arthur’s Mantle

Stargate SG-1Mitchell finds Carter working overtime in the lab, trying to analyze a device recovered from the Ancient repository in Glastonbury. She manages to activate the device, which puts both of them out of phase and thus invisible to everyone at SGC. They hope that Daniel, who was once out of phase himself, will be able to see them, but they have no luck. Daniel’s experience does ultimately come in handy once Dr. Lee collects more information, as Daniel recognizes what’s happened to Carter and Mitchell. They work out a rudimentary form of communication using the Ancient device, which exists in both dimensions. And on Carter and Mitchell’s side, the device is a display with Merlin’s notes . . . including a gate address for a world where Merlin hid information concerning a device that could destroy ascended beings.

SGC is not uneventful during the crisis. They receive a signal from the Sodan, and Teal’c leads SG-12 to investigate. They find the Sodan village wrecked and the Sodan dead, except for a mortally wounded Haikon. The team’s efforts to return to Earth for reinforcements and medical supplies are thrwarted when the teleportation device is sabotaged; the team is attacked soon later. Teal’c realizes that their attacker is using the Sodan cloaking technology, so he cloaks himself in an effort to find the attacker. Teal’c delivers what should be a killing blow to Volnek, the warrior that Mitchell once wounded in battle. But the Sodan soon rises, looking very much undead. Haikon recovers enough to tell the SGC team that a Prior told Volnek that the Sodan would be punished for their refusal to serve the Ori. Soon after, he fell ill and began to behave irrationally; eventually he slaughtered the entire village. Mitchell decides he’s had enough of waiting around and decides to try to help Teal’c. Carter soon receives more company when Dr. Lee accidentally sends Daniel out of phase. While cloaked, Teal’c is able to see Mitchell, but he remains intangible. This makes him the perfect bait for a trap they hope will send the possessed Volnek to his final rest . . . as long as the SGC doesn’t reverse the phasing process too soon.

The new copy of Six is given a new task, though: she has to talk Sharon out of her slump so she can return to her duties. Maternity Leave

LostFlashback: Inside another Dharma bunker, Ethan claims to be giving Claire medicine for her baby. He tells her that the baby may get sick, and encourages her to give the baby to his group so they can keep the baby safe. Confused by the drugs in her system, Claire is inclined to agree, even though other members of Ethan’s group are upset that their timetable has been altered. Finally, a teenage girl tries to get Claire to leave, saying that the group plans to kill her. The girl knocks Claire out and leaves her in the jungle, where Rousseau finds her. To keep the Others from finding Claire, Rousseau knocks her out.

The Island: Jack and Locke continue to argue about what to do with Henry. When Eko realizes they are keeping a prisoner in the hatch, he asks Jack to speak to Henry. Eko recounts how he killed two of the Others who tried to take him, and asks Henry for forgiveness. Henry tries to drive a wedge further between Jack and Locke.

Aaron develops a rash and fever. Jack says it’s just a simple childhood disease that will pass, but Claire is unsure, especially since her memories of her time with Ethan are starting to resurface. She asks Libby to help her remember, and then sets out with Kate to find Rousseau and then the Dharma bunker, looking for the vaccine that will protect Aaron. Rousseau agrees to help, in hopes that this will help her track down Alex, but Rousseau warns Claire of what must be done if Aaron is infected. Crusade

Stargate SG-1Vala’s consciousness returns to SGC, this time inhabiting Daniel’s body. Carter has found a way to reproduce the effects of the Ancient communications device, using the readings from Daniels and Vala’s previous experience. The timing could be better, since Daniel was supposed to accompany Gen. Landry to a meeting with the Russian and Chinese representatives to the IOA – a meeting where Gen. Chekov announces Russia’s intent to take back the stargate it has been loaning the SGC and begin its own program, apparently with Chinese support. Although Chekov does suggest to Landry that alternate arrangements could be made . . . perhaps involving a Deadalus-class vessel of the Russians’ very own?

But Vala has much of significance to report, and recounts her experience since she arrived in a village of Ori followers. She was rescued and taken in by Tomin, a devout follower of Origin, who believed her arrival to be a gift from the Ori. Vala tried to be inconspicuous, but that did not stop Seevis, the local strongman, from accusing her of blasphemy and chaining her to a bench in the village square for three days. That she became pregnant by apparently miraculous means did not help either, and she married Tomin so as to avoid calling furhter attention to herself. She later discovered that Seevis was testing her – he is a leader in the local resistance, and there is much resisting to be done. The Ori have built ships and recruited an army, including Vala’s husband, to destroy the nonbelievers in the Milky Way. And they are ready to launch the invasion . . . somewhere, the Ori have built a working supergate.

Inferno

Stargate AtlantisResponding to a distress call from an base built by the Ancients on the planet Taranis, Sheppard and his team find a civilization facing extinction. Rodney discovers that the Ancients’ base is built in the caldera of a dormant supervolcano, but when the locals occupied the empty facility and turned its shields on full-time, the resulting increase in geothermal energy brought the volcano back to an active state. Now, Rodney faces a conundrum – if he turns off the base’s shields, the volcanic activity will destroy it, but leaving the shields on will almost certainly trigger a major eruption that could render Taranis uninhabitable. The locals also have another treasure worth preserving – a ship almost identical to the destroyed Aurora is berthed in the base’s hangar. Sheppard and Weir’s interest in the ship arouses suspicions though, enough that the Atlantis team may not be trusted to evacuate the base. Unsure that the Aurora’s sister ship can be readied in time for a full-scale evacuation, Weir orders Colonel Caldwell to divert the Daedalus to Taranus – even though it can’t evacuate everyone. And on Atlantis, sensors warn of a lone approaching Wraith hive ship…

Lay Down Your Burdens – Part 1

Battlestar GalacticaStarbuck prepares to lead a combined force of Raptors from Galactica and Pegasus on a mission to Caprica, where they hope to recover Anders and the other human freedom fighters and evacuate them. Over the objections of some of the other pilots on the mission, Starbuck insists on bringing Sharon along to thwart the Cylons’ security measures. When the Raptors make their jump, one of the ships goes missing; Racetrack’s Raptor accidentally jumps into a dense nebula which also harbors a world capable of supporting human life. As the political struggle between President Roslin and Baltar seems to be all but finished in favor of Roslin, Baltar – under Tom Zarek’s advice (and a bit of goading from Six) – makes the planet an election issue, urging the voters to demand that the fleet stop running and settle there. This issue suddenly divides the polls almost evenly between the two camps. At Caprica, Starbuck’s Raptor squadron arrives minus another ship – which fatally ended its jump in the heart of a mountain – and quickly locates Anders’ resistance cell. But just moments after the reunion, the shelling begins.
