Hitting bottom. And not bouncing back.

It’ll probably come as a surprise to nobody that I’m completely exhausted. I took a day off of work yesterday, though truth be told I think I could’ve handled a whole week off, but of course we’re in the midst of May sweeps. (Though given that few seemed to like my most recent contribution to sweeps, an ungainly creature I call Hypnopotamus, maybe there is a perfectly valid reason for me to take off during one of the two most critical ratings sweeps of the year.) I tried to get caught up on some reviews and things for the site with that extra day, though truth be told this meant getting a grand total of three new reviews written – woooo.
Othello continues to mope around, but I’m pleased with how much time he’s spending with my wife. He even hops up on the bed with her to keep her company. This isn’t a substitute for getting her own cat again, but I think it should help everyone out in the interim. Speaking of kitty critters, I went looking and found that these days, you can actually see what cats the humane society has online – you can see their pictures, their breed (if known) and how they arrived – if they were given up by an owner or if they were strays, if they’re already neutered, the works. My wife is looking for a particular kind of cat, but that may be a tall order to fill – she seems to want another Chloe. I don’t know that we can find another Chloe – she was a somewhat rare kind of cat – and in any case, whoever we do find isn’t going to be Chloe. It just doesn’t seem fair to drop an expectation to live up to that whole legacy in the lap of a little kitty. In the meantime, there are tons of cute kittens at the humane society who happen not to be just that right breed. I’ve got to leave this search to my wife, because if I go looking for a new kitty, I’ll wind up bringing all of them home with a sider order of fries. And I’ll probably bring home all the dogs too at this rate. I really wonder if we shouldn’t hold off on adopting a new cat for something longer than six weeks, what with the “Chloe II” approach to things.
Hopefully I’ll get more than two hours of sleep sometime soon. I don’t think I’m totaling more than 4 hours a day at this point.

Cool. Checking out pets on the dubya-dubya-dubya. 🙂 I checked out the pets at the local AH site and thought the feature was pretty cool.
BTW, does Google check to your location before performing the search (outside of China, of course)? I simply typed: “Animal Humane Association” on the Google page and the New Mexico AH web page was the first hit! Coincidence? I don’t think so!
