Pathfinders In SpaceBritish broadcaster ABC airs the fifth episode of Pathfinders In Space, a follow-up series to Target Luna, produced by future Doctor Who creator Sydney Newman. Peter Williams stars in a script written by Malcolm Hulke (Doctor Who) and Eric Paice (Star Maidens). Though the original master tape of this episode was later wiped for reuse, film recordings of all seven episodes would be recovered and released on DVD in the 21st century.

Doctor WhoThe 86th episode of Doctor Who airs on the BBC. This is the only self-contained, single-episode story of entire original series, and the only one to feature neither the Doctor nor his companions. It is essentially an episode-length teaser for the upcoming 12-part story The Daleks’ Master Plan. This episode is missing from the BBC’s archives.

Soyuz 25

Soyuz 25The Soviet Union launches Soyuz 25 into Earth orbit, with cosmonauts Vladimir Kovalyonok and Valery Ryumin set to become the first occupants of the new Salyut 6 space station. However, the crew is unable to successfully dock Soyuz 25 to Salyut 6, and after a fifth attempt to dock, the mission is aborted and the cosmonauts are recalled to Earth due to concerns about the remaining fuel in their vehicle. As a result, Soyuz 25 is the last all-rookie Soviet space crew until the 1990s.

Ninja GolfOne of Atari’s most innovative games of the 1990s is released for the Atari 7800 home video game system. Ninja Golf is a game parodying both the glut of current sports simulations and martial arts fighting games – at the same time. Players take a swing at the ball, and then a swing at their throwing-star-hurling enemies. Despite its cheeky humor and innovative play, Ninja Golf doesn’t make much noise at retail – it’s stealthy, like a ninja.

She-Wolf Of London

She-Wolf Of LondonThe first episode of She-Wolf Of London premieres in syndication in North America, a co-production between Universal Studios and British broadcaster HTV, and starring Kate Hodge and Neil Dickson. The premiere episode is written by series creators and renowned horror filmmakers Mick Garris and Tom McLoughlin. The series is part of a bid by Universal to enter the first-run syndicated drama market that has arisen in the wake of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
