The Pluto File

Wonder WomanWord reaches Washington that a mercenary known internationally as “the Falcon” has arrived in America, either to stop or to steal the word of Professor Warren, who had devised a way to artificially induce earthquakes – an ability that, when weaponized, could end World War II in mere days. But for such a renowned hired gun, the Falcon is remarkably easy to track: his most recent stop was in India, where he unwittingly became a carrier of bubonic plague, leaving a trail of infected victims in his wake. Judgment From Outer Space – Part 1

Wonder WomanA UFO lands just outside of Washington, bearing Andros, a visitor from a peaceful league of alien worlds. As humans grows closer to the secret of splitting the atom and taking its first steps into space, these other worlds are becoming uneasy that the people of Earth will export war to the rest of space. Andros has been sent to survey Earth to see if the human race is worthy of survival, and he’s not impressed with the welcome he receives from Washington. A Nazi spy posing as a Swedish reporter alerts the Axis to Andros’ presence, and capturing him – and harnessing his power over such natural forces as weather – becomes a top priority. Andros has found a kindred spirit in Wonder Woman, who is also an outsider in human society, but when he is kidnapped by the Nazis, she may be powerless to convince Andros’ people not to destroy Earth.

Vic Perrin could be heard in every episode of The Outer Limits as the control voice instructing viewers not to adjust their televisions. Janet MacLachlan guest starred in the original Star Trek and The Six Million Dollar Man. Scott Hylands appeared in Earth II and Project UFO, and would go on to guest star on The X-Files before landing a regular role in the 21st century reboot of V.

Judgment From Outer Space – Part 2

Wonder WomanAndros is in the hands of Nazi agents who take him across the Atlantic to Germany. Major Trevor is assigned to join up with an RAF unit in England to launch a rescue mission, while Wonder Woman speeds across the ocean in her invisible jet. She is the first to try to mount a rescue, but finds Andros uncooperative, apparently not convinced that the Nazis are in the wrong since he has been treated well. It’s only when the Nazis promise to unleash their cruelty upon Wonder Woman that Andros learns of their true nature. Major Trevor is captured before he can attempt a rescue, and Wonder Woman is already in captivity. Now the only help can come from Andros and his people…assuming they haven’t already decided to destroy this primitive, savage world.

Wonder WomanMajor Trevor and Diana are assigned to fly to Buenos Aires on a top secret mission to meet with Professor Moreno, inventor of a chemical formula that makes rubber nearly impervious to physical attack. Despite Argentina’s official neutrality in the war, Moreno has quietly promised to hand the formula over to the United States. But German spies have also learned of the formula, and an undercover team of Nazis arrives in Buenos Aires at the same time – with intelligence that’s so up-to-date that they know Trevor is there for the same reason. Some of the Nazis quickly make their presence known, and Wonder Woman appears to fight them off. But other Nazi agents are already in Professor Moreno’s home, without announcing their true identities or intentions…and they’re more than happy to add Trevor and Wonder Woman to the list of prizes they hope to take back to Germany.

The Bushwhackers

Wonder WomanTexas rancher J.P. Hadley, an old school friend of General Blankenship, calls the General for help when local law enforcement proves completely ineffective in rounding up cattle thieves who are having a serious impact on the Hadley ranch’s operations. The General sends Major Trevor to Texas, and Wonder Woman follows in her invisible jet. Before Trevor can even meet Hadley, the cattle rustlers are trying to keep him from offering any help, but they haven’t counted on Wonder Woman’s presence. Worse yet, someone inside Hadley’s ranch is giving them information on everything Trevor and Wonder Woman plan to do.

Wonder Woman In Hollywood

Wonder WomanHollywood calls on the War Department to seek Major Steve Trevor’s expertise in a filmed re-enactment of the war exploits that made him famous. Somewhat to Trevor’s dismay, General Blakenship is more than happy to loan him out as both advisor and actor. Diana accompanies him to Hollywood. At the same time, Drusilla is sent from Paradise Island to summon Diana for an important anniversary celebration among the Amazons, but delivering the message is no simple matter. Someone is trying to kidnap some of Trevor’s co-stars, who also happen to be war heroes, and studio boss Mark Bremer seems remarkably unconcerned about what’s going on…because he’s a German agent planning to take Trevor and his fellow war heroes back to Berlin for trial. Wonder Woman and Wonder Girl must combine forces if they’re to stop the fiendish plot.

Wonder WomanNotes: This is the final World War II-era Wonder Woman TV episode, and as such it’s the last we see of Richard Eastham as General Blankenship and Beatrice Colen as Etta Candy. Technically, it’s also the last time we see Major Steve Trevor, but fear not, the second season – set in the 1970s, contemporary with the show’s airdates – introduces us to American intelligence agent Steve Trevor, who looks exactly like his father. This is also the second and final appearance of Debra Winger as Drusilla, and is loaded with some extremely young familiar faces, such as Robert Hays (Airplane!, Wonder WomanStarman) and Barry Van Dyke (Galactica: 1980, Diagnosis Murder). The first season finale also marks the end of Wonder Woman on ABC; though the shift to the 1970s era would probably have happened anyway, ABC’s cold feet at renewing the chronically expensive series gave CBS time to step in and outbid them.

The Return Of Wonder Woman

Wonder WomanAmerican intelligence agent Steve Trevor convenes an airborne meeting of top nuclear experts to discuss the threat of a reclusive madman gaining access to atomic technology. As it turns out, that madman is already aware of the meeting, and has placed one of his own men aboard to take over. An anesthetic gas is released aboard the plane, knocking nearly everyone out instantly; Trevor manages to pull the saboteur’s gas mask off, meaning that no one is left awake aboard the plane, which goes down near the Bermuda Triangle…on Paradise Island.

Having returned to Paradise Island after World War II, Diana hasn’t aged a day, despite the fact that more than thirty years have passed since the war. Diana is stunned to see Trevor – who bears a strong resemblance to his father, the late Major Steve Trevor – and the truth of what happened aboard the plane is quickly discovered. With the freedom and safety of the world once again at stake, Diana elects to leave her fellow Amazons and return to America, again assuming the identity of Diana Prince and setting herself up as Steve Trevor’s assistant. And almost as soon as Diana is back in the United States, she has to become her alter ego, Wonder Woman, to defeat agents of the mad genius who tried to wreck Trevor’s original mission. With spies everywhere, Dr. Solano is now aware of Wonder Woman, and decides to turn his nuclear and robotic expertise toward setting a trap with an adversary that can defeat her once and for all.

Anschluss ’77

Wonder WomanWord reaches the Inter-Agency Defense Command that a surviving Nazi war criminal named Gerlich is hiding out in South America, planning a comeback for the Third Reich and an event he calls “Anschluss ’77”. Steve and Diana are dispatched to South America to follow up on these leads, but despite cooperation from the local authorities, it’s clear that their arrival is far from a secret. Diana is kidnapped shortly after discovering that Gerlich is conducting cloning experiments, but manages to transform into Wonder Woman and hitch a ride to Gerlich’s base of operations by hanging on to his personal helicopter. What they find is that not only is Gerlich assembling a new Nazi army to take over the world, but that he has created a clone of Hitler himself to lead them…

The Man Who Could Move The World

Wonder WomanA telekinesis researcher and a promising test subject go missing, which gets the IADC’s attention. Steve Trevor is assigned to follow the clues, and her tracks them down to an abandoned internment camp, where the United States government imprisoned Japanese citizens living withing the U.S. during World War II. The missing test subject, a survivor of this camp, tried to use is latent powers to escape it as a boy, but lost his brother in the process, for which he blames not just the United States, but Wonder Woman, who witnessed the incident first-hand. Wonder Woman has followed Steve to the camp to help, unaware that her presence is very much wanted by a man who has the power to stop her in her tracks with his mind.

Batman Begins

Batman BeginsYoung billionaire Bruce Wayne, traumatized by the murder of his parents, wanders the world attempting to find some purpose to his life. After being directed to the mountaintop retreat of Ra’s Al Ghul, Wayne seems to find some peace with his past. But Wayne is unable to join Ra’s Al Ghul in his quest to topple civilization and he, instead, tears down Al Ghul’s retreat and returns to his home in Gotham City to become its protector. He takes on the mantle of Batman and aligns himself with Jim Gordon, one of the few uncorrupted officers on the Gotham Police Force. But just as he begins to do some good, Ra’s Al Ghul comes back into his life, questioning whether he has chosen the right side for which to fight…

Supergirl (pilot)

SupergirlIn the dying days of the planet Krypton, young Kara Zor-El is sent to Earth to protect her younger cousin, Kal-El. When debris from Krypton’s destruction knocks Kara’s escape pod off-course, a detour through the Phantom Zone means that she doesn’t reach Earth until after Kal-El has reached maturity (and become known to the world as Superman). Her upbringing is entrusted to the Danvers family, where she has a normal life, an older sister…and eventually grows up in a very human way, not using her powers at all, holding down a dead-end job at the National City Tribune, being ordinary.

This ends when she learns that a flight taking her sister to Geneva is about to crash. She brings the plane down safely, but in doing so exposes herself to the scrutiny of the public as well as secret organizations. One of them, a cabal of Kryptonian criminals banished to the Phantom Zone, followed her pod to Earth, a planet of weak beings they intend to subjugate. Kara is an obstacle to their plans and is marked for death.

But Kara is even more disturbed to find that another organization, tracking aliens and those with extraordinary powers, includes her older sister, Alex, among its ranks. This organization is aware of, and closely monitors, the Kryptonian criminals, but believes Kara will prove ineffective in stopping them. She is urged to go back into hiding, to retreat into ordinary human life.

But it’s too late for that. Cat Grant, publisher of the Tribune, has taken the few blurry photos of Kara from the airplane rescue and has attached a name to National City’s new hero: Supergirl. With some advice from James (formerly Jimmy) Olsen, an old friend of her cousin’s, Kara must now navigate the already-complicated life of a twenty-four year old woman…and a secret life as a superhero.

SupergirlNotes: Kara’s parents are portrayed by actors with significantly super roles of their own. Helen Slater played Supergirl in the character’s sole big-screen adventure in 1984, while Dean Cain played Superman himself, almost as a side-note to the role of Clark Kent, in the 1990s TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman. Supergirl was developed for TV by the dynamic duo of Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, who brought Arrow and The Flash to CBS’ sister network, the CW; it was felt that Supergirl was enough of a high-profile character to add her to the CBS schedule rather than the CW. Supergirl proved popular on CBS, winning the series a full-season pickup, though she would eventually migrate to the CW for her second season.

Return Of The Caped Crusaders

BatmanThe Riddler, the Penguin, Catwoman and the Joker hijack Gotham’s most-watched TV variety show simply to signal their latest crime wave. Batman and Robin follow leads and pursue the criminals, but Catwoman thinks she knows how to sway Batman to their side, using a potent chemical concoction that will do away with Batman’s urge to do good. The chemical doesn’t work until after Batman has rounded up the quartet of criminals, but when its effects do kick in, Batman suddenly installs himself as the ruler of Gotham City, relieving the police of their duties and allowing anarchy to reign. Alfred is fired, and Aunt Harriet is sent away in tears. Robin is about to go it alone against his mentor when he decides to enlist Catwoman’s reluctant help instead. But how can Robin fight the man who taught him everything he knows about fighting crime?
