Nothing to see here, please disperse.

The first day after yet another ratings month is always the same…kind of a giant, building-wide exhale of frustration and exhaustion. As a result I don’t have much to report tonight. But! I do have some new stuff for you to look at in the video section. Here for your viewing pleasure are a new animation for theLogBook.com and Phosphor Dot Fossils (no idea what possible application these will find just yet, but hey, it came out looking kinda neat), a horse video I edited in early 2003, and a curious double helping of video of a rummage through the old toy collection. Hope ya like ’em.
There is some good news: my friend Brian has invited me to tag along with him to the CinciClassic classic gaming con in Ohio first weekend of April, and I’m currently trying to secure the vacation time and make every effort to take him up on that. I’ll probably have el zilcho spending money outside of what’s necessary to feed myself, but y’know, I think I can handle that. If OVGE returns again this year to Tulsa, you can expect to find me there in exhibitor mode. (Though I’m not sure what I’ll be exhibiting this year – sometimes I think I’ve done the “history of the classics” with the video loop thing about enough, and yet that theme seems to be perennial.)
I’ll have more to say when my brain is working again. At some point.… Read more

In case you hadn’t guessed it…

Shark Hunter for Videopac and Odyssey2…I’m pretty much a pushover for any new Odyssey2 games that come out. So now we have the announcement of another new game, this time an unreleased prototype from the tail end of the Odyssey2’s lifespan as the European Videopac console (or, because the French just have to do their own thing, the French Jopac console). This one looks really interesting, and I’ve already signed up to be one of those lucky folks with his name in the NTSC section of the owners’ list.
So much for my pledge about putting the kibosh on game spending this year. But I think we all have these little collectors’ Achilles’ heels. I could swear off music for a year and then, of course, Jeff Lynne, Alan Parsons and one or both of the Finn Brothers would all come out with new stuff. With Peter Gabriel, Tori Amos and Ralf Illenberger guesting. With each one. So hit me with all the Odyssey2 goodness you like. Somehow, someway, I’ll find a way.
Now let’s talk about another game. The Arkansas Razorbacks are finally kicking ass, and considerable quantities of it. No come-from-behind, win-by-three-points game tonight, my friends. Tonight was a legitimate smackdown. I’ve been waiting for the Hogs to get back within arm’s reach of NCAA Tournament territory, and I can taste it this year, we’re so close. I’ve thought all along that Coach Stan Heath can take us back there. He just needed the players, and the players just needed the passion, and I think we’ve got a real shot this year. Mark my word, we’re so close. Oh, to have season tickets for this year. I should’ve exercised some of my Evil Media Influence last fall for once.… Read more
