The temple of the gods set up by the humans has thus far been left untouched by the Cylons, making it the perfect place for the resistance to hide weapons. But even the temple isn’t a safe hiding place – nor is it safe for anyone – when an open firefight with the Cylons ensues just outside.

Col. Carter accompanies the Odyssey to follow up intelligence on the location of another Ori supergate. Instead of a gate, however, the ship encounters a neutron star that weakens its shields and disrupts its systems. Goa’uld motherships attack the Odyssey, drive it into a minefield, and capture it. Anateo, a second in the Lucian Alliance, orders Carter to deactivate the ship’s transponder. When she refuses, Anateo kills Col. Emerson.
Vala is able to scrounge up a cargo ship in less-than-optimal condition, and goes with Mitchell, Daniel and Teal’c to try to find the ship. Unfortunately, her contact has already been approached by Anateo’s men, and she and Daniel are captured. Mitchell proposes that he impersonate Keflinn, one of Netal’s most trusted seconds, in order to infiltrate the Alliance and find the ship. No one but Netal knows what Kefflin looks like, and Mitchell can use the Reole chemical to convince Netal. The plan works, and Mitchell learns that Netal ordered the attack on the Odyssey . . . but he doesn’t know where it is. Anateo has clearly gone rogue, and now Netal wants him stopped. Carter, Vala and Daniel provide some assistance on that score by taking the Odyssey back from Anateo, but the damage is severe – the ship is a sitting duck. And as a final complication, the cloaking device on Teal’c’s ships fails. When Teal’c is captured, Mitchell must maintain his cover, find the Odyssey, and prevent Netal from claiming it for his own.

When an SG team from Atlantis fails to check in for six hours, another team led by Sheppard goes looking for them. But when Sheppard’s team finds on the other side of the stargate is horrifying – several deal bodies, in Genii uniform, have all been killed in violent ways – gunshots, stab wounds, broken necks and even suicide. There’s no sign of the missing Atlantis team, but there is an unusual energy reading which is eventually traced to a cavern containing a device of Wraith origin. As Rodney begins investigating the machine, Sheppard finds most of the missing Atlantis team, again killed violently – and their commanding officer is still out there, though he thinks that his Atlantis crewmates are the enemy. But Ronon and Sheppard begin to experience paranoid hallucinations that make them just as dangerous as the man they’re trying to bring home safely, and soon Sheppard poses more of a threat to his own team.

A woman’s body is found in a public park, covered with bite marks that don’t match any kind of wildlife known in the area. When the coroner seems uninterested in the bite marks, Kolchak and Perri pester him until he takes a closer look, and finds a needle mark hidden within a freckle on the victim’s body. When Jain looks into the newspaper’s archives, he discovers that there was a trio of similar deaths dating back at least to 1970. When Kolchak tracks down a retired police detective who worked the 1970 case, he’s told that the killer committed suicide. Research turns up another series of three deaths of women, all from horrific bite marks, in 1935 as well. But even further examination of that death turns up more questions, until it becomes clear to Kolchak that someone involved with investigating the crimes is helping to cover the killer’s tracks – and the killer may be older than anyone realizes.

Daniel is still trying to figure out the location of Merlin’s weapon when the missing piece arrives to Vala in a dream. The team travels to a world with a technology and culture similar to the Camelot planet. Their requests for information about the Grail are met with warnings of the danger . . . and the news that Ba’al’s team has a three-day head start on them. Morgan has cast spells to protect the Grail, and the only help is the parchment of virtues she has left behind in the library. After the team consults the archivist, Ori troops take over the village and burn the library contents. An innkeeper helps SG-1 escape, along with the archivist, who promises to take them to the Grail.
As they make their way to the cave, the team meets Ba’al, who had been snared by one of Morgan’s traps. He claims to know the name of the dragon that guards the Grail, essential knowledge for the quest. So SG-1 reluctantly allows him to tag along. They also realize that the archivist is actually Adria in disguise. She planted the knowledge in Vala’s dream and helped SG-1 go this far, because she believes that only Daniel, a former Ascended being, can retrieve the Grail. She threatens to kill SG-1 if Daniel does not agree to help her, and he reluctantly agrees. But as they make their way through Morgan’s tests, the team discovers that the threat may not come from the direction they’re expecting.

The gate network connecting Atlantis to Earth via a series of stargates and the under-construction Midway Space Station is tested successfully, but an even bigger surprise arrives in the form of an Ancient warship, similar to the Aurora, which appears to be damaged and in need of help. When the Daedalus renders assistance and brings those Ancients back to Atlantis, the captain of the Ancient ship manages to lock out Weir’s crew by activating a single control that none of the Earth expedition has ever seen before. When General O’Neill tries to negotiate a treaty allowing the Earth team to stay there, he is told in no uncertain terms that the Atlanteans are back, and don’t intend to share their city with anyone. Dr. Weir and her team are sent home, while Wolsey from the IOC is assigned to Atlantis to serve as liaison, and General O’Neill remains with him while he’s there. On Earth, Sheppard is quickly assigned to head up his own SG team, though he never quite finds the kind of bond with them that he had with his Atlantis teammates. McKay is assigned to Area 51. Weir slides into a reclusive depression, and Teyla and Ronon stay in the Pegasus Galaxy with the Athosians (though the Genii try to recruit them as soldiers of fortune soon after learning of the Ancients’ return). But when a desperate message is received from Atlantis, indicating that Atlantis has fallen to the Replicators, trapping (and possibly killing) Wolsey and O’Neill, Weir and her team offer to spring into action – but the only help General Landry wants from them is a way to hit Atlantis with a nuke to prevent the Replicators from using the gate network to travel to Earth. With no orders, no backup, an nowhere they’d rather be, Weir, Sheppard, McKay and Beckett steal a jumper from the SGC and return to take Atlantis back.

When he learns that his father – upon whose theories his life’s work is based – has died under mysterious circumstances in New York City, Suresh leaves his teaching career behind to find out what really happened. Before he leaves India, he stops by his father’s office to pick up his research on humans with extraordinary abilities – and someone else is already there for the same reason.
In Las Vegas, single mother Niki Sanders and her electronics-savvy son Micah find themselves on the run when her debt to a mob bass named Linderman comes due. She leaves Micah with a friend and then goes home to pack, but Linderman’s hired hands are waiting for her. Niki blacks out, and when she awakens, she finds that the thugs have been brutally killed – and sees someone who is both herself and not herself in the mirror, urging her to stay quiet. In Odessa, Texas, high school cheerleader Claire Bennet demonstrates an amazing ability to one of her friends, taking a deliberate fall from a great height and surviving unharmed – the latest of several stunts that would be lethal to anyone else – but she later draws attention to her ability by pulling a man from a burning train wreck. In New York City, Congressional candidate Nathan Petrelli grows concerned as his younger brother Peter talks endlessly about a series of dreams and visions in which he believes he can fly. Artist Isaac Mendez awakens from a drug binge, discovering several pictures that he doesn’t remember painting, and he’s certain that they describe future events. His girlfriend Simone, who has hired Peter Petrelli as a day nurse for her dying father, convinces Peter to help Isaac; along the way, Peter has a chance encounter with Suresh, now working as a cab driver. Simone finds Isaac unconscious, and Peter finds Isaac’s most recent paintings – a picture of Peter flying, and a picture of a mushroom cloud erupting in the heart of NYC. In Tokyo, office worker Hiro Nakamura continues his own experiments, having discovered the ability to stop or even reverse time simply by intense concentration; his friend Ando is not impressed. Hiro practices another ability – teleportation – and ends up in New York City. However, when Peter Petrelli, inspired by the painting, decides to practice the ability that he’s certain he possesses, the results are less conclusive…

Though this first episode of Heroes is officially given the simple title Pilot, fandom has dubbed it both Genesis and In His Own Image. The Doctor follows a trail of highly unusual energy emissions through Earth’s history to Brisbane, Australia in 2006. There, he meets Dr. Katherine Chambers, a woman whose life was changed forever by her last encounter with the Doctor (an encounter that won’t happen until his next regeneration). When he tells her that he’s trying to track down potentially dangerous alien technology, Dr. Chambers begins evading the Doctor’s questions, but he follows her to a surprise birthday party, badgering her with question anyway. But the guest of honor at the surprise party manages to stun the Doctor into silence: it’s Tegan, his former traveling companion, who hasn’t seen him in over 20 years. She isn’t thrilled to renew their acquaintance, since she maintains that anywhere the Doctor goes, trouble – and death – follow. But even without the Doctor, they’re already catching up with Tegan anyway.

The TARDIS brings the Doctor and Peri to Baltimore, 1984 – four months since, as far as her family and friends know, Peri disappeared without a trace at Lanzarote. Far from being a happy reunion, Peri’s arrival coincides with the apparent murder of Anthony Chambers, her best friend’s father. Peri discovers that her friends and her mother aren’t exactly overjoyed to see her. The Doctor becomes interested in Chambers’ death, and when he discovers the Cybermen are behind the incident, he wonders why they’ve targeted one man. Even when the Doctor thinks he’s close to solving the mystery, it’s putting Peri, her mother and her friends into mortal danger.

Born to a mother who is an ambitious senator and a father whole military career is coming to an ignoble halt due to illness, young Davros leads a life of privelege, but is fascinated by the patterns of life and nature around him, almost to the exclusion of all else. His mother hires a tutor, Magrantine, whose scientific experiments on the effects of radiation on living tissue fascinate Davros. When Magrantine turns out to be out for revenge against Davros’ father – the soldier whose actions resulted in the death of Magrantine’s son – Davros traps his tutor in his own radiation experiment chamber – a torturous experience that he survives, but it leaves him horribly mutated. But his mother, far from admonishing him, sees something of her own ruthless ambition in her son – and quietly gives her approval.

Peter Petrelli’s attempt to fly brings him in for a rough landing in the hospital. When Peter remembers that his brother Nathan flew, Nathan quickly “corrects” the story, fearing the impact on his Congressional campaign. Mohinder Suresh, who’s had an unnerving encounter with an American he spotted in his father’s home in India, is becoming paranoid; he’s convinced that his father not only proved the existence of humans who had evolved into beings with what most people would call “super powers,” but was actually tracking many such individuals. His fears that he is being followed, and that his father’s research is being sought by a shady organization with seemingly limitless resources, turn out to be entirely accurate. Elsewhere in New York, Hiro – having just teleported himself from Tokyo – finds a comic book depicting his arrival and decides to track down its artist, Isaac Mendez, only to find him dead with his head sliced open and his brain removed. A similar murder occurs across the country in Los Angeles, and LAPD officer Matt Parkman – assigned to direct traffic at the scene – hears a voice in his head that leads him to a missing little girl, but that raises suspicions among his fellow officers and leads to his arrest. One name links that crime scene, a threatening conversation recorded on Suresh’s father’s answering machine: Sylar. During Hiro’s questioning for Mendez’ murder, he witnesses something horrible and realizes that he has glimpsed the same future that Mendez saw: the destruction of New York City.
