It’s not very often that I experience a moment of pure joy at work, let alone two whole nights of pure joy, but just such a thing happened when a co-worker asked me to cat-sit for him.
He was going out of town for a weekend, and brought his new kitten to spend a weekend with another co-worker – but I got to look after little Mocha in the meantime, on the night she was leaving home and the night she came back.
As you can see, Mocha quickly set up shop on top of an unused oscilloscope.
She was able to observe all the goings-on in the newsroom from this vantage point. My office is cut off from the station by a glass wall with a glass door, so it’s the perfect hiding place for a Promo Puss.
She also found a place to crash – namely, on my jacket.
Before and after: crashed on Friday night, crashed on Monday night.
Avid Adrenaline video editing workstation: $80,000. A six-month-old kitten shedding just a couple of feet away from it: priceless.
Our engineering staff would probably shit kittens if they knew there was a kitten in here.
Best possible use of company office supplies: a makeshift cat toy.
I also understand that Mocha will be a semi-regular visitor – she’ll be coming back in a couple of weeks. And I think everyone’s already very well aware that “Uncle Earl” will be more than happy to have her as a visitor again.
