Batman Season 2

Walk The Straight And Narrow

BatmanNarrowly escaping the Archer’s trap, Batman and Robin set about laying a trap of their own, namely planting information that they’re certain will reach the Archer about a heist target he can’t resist. Even when he seems to be a step ahead of the police and the Dynamic Duo, Batman sets out to make sure the Archer’s plan won’t stay afloat.

Notes: Scenes of Batman and Robin climbing into the Bat-Boat and heading out to sea were lifted directly from the Batman feature film; this is also the case for all future appearances of the Bat-Boat and the Bat-Copter, as obtaining new footage of either in action was beyond the budget of the television series.

The Man Trap

Kirk is suspicious – and McCoy alarmed – when the Craters refuse, in spite of the threat, to evacuate their planet. The landing party returns to the Enterprise with an extra passenger – a shape shifter who can assume the shapes of Enterprise crewmembers and who has been living with Professor Crater in the guise of his late wife, whom the creature killed. Beyond The Farthest Star

Star Trek ClassicStardate 5221.3: Near the edge of the galaxy, a powerful gravitational force has seized the Enterprise. Sulu is able to alter the ship’s course just enough to go into orbit around the dead stellar core which is the source of the gravity, rather than crashing into it. Also in orbit is a vessel of organic origins, with a structure that indicates two things – the ship was built by insectoid beings, and those beings appear to have destroyed themselves. A log entry recorded by one of the aliens warns of the presence of a malevolent life form, prompting Kirk and his landing party to return to the Enterprise – only to discover that whatever attacked the insectoids has now beamed aboard with them.

Invisible Man

The Klae Resource

The Invisible ManSome time after the incident that caused him to be rendered permanently invisible, Dr. Daniel Westin and his wife, Dr. Kate Westin, are in the employ of the Klae Corporation, and are hired out as a team of “specialists” to take on particularly difficult tasks. One such task will require both invisibility and cunning: an inventor named Parks has gone missing, and the government is concerned that he might sell his latest energy breakthrough to the highest bidder in the Middle East. His last known location is a Vegas casino hotel, but no one has actually seen him recently…and solving the mystery of his whereabouts will require the skills of someone else who no one can actually see.

Star Maidens

Nemesis

Star MaidensMonitoring Earth radio communications, Fulvia and Octavia realize that Shem and Adam have somehow survived their suicidal plunge to the primitive planet. As the two men wander aimlessly in search of food and civilization, the Medusan women head for Earth to initiate contact with the locals and retrieve their prey. Caught stealing food, Adam and Shem find that they’re now on the run from the law on another planet – and it doesn’t help their case when Fulvia lands and warn the authorities that Adam and Shem are wanted criminals.

written by Eric Paice

music by Berry Lipmann

Cast: Judy Geeson (Fulvia), Lisa Harrow (Liz), Gareth Thomas (Shem), Pierre Brice (Adam), Christian Quadflieg (Rudi), Christiane Kruger (Octavia), Derek Farr (Evans), Ronald Hines (Stanley), Wilfred Grove (Innes), Kristine Howarth (Mrs. Moss), Jenny Morgan (Katy Moss), Norman Warwick (Desk Sergeant)

Star MaidensNotes: The spherical, inflatible nature of Adam and Shem’s escape capsule may be the one big example of actual scientific foresight for the entire series: it could be that their capsule operates on the real principle of aerobraking in a manner similar to the inflatible heat-dissipating airbags deployed to safely land the Sojourner and Mars Exploration Rovers. It’s altogether more likely, however, that having a giant balloon on hand cost the production a lot less than building a more “futuristic” escape craft.

Farscape Season 2

The Ugly Truth

FarscapeCrais invites Crichton, Aeryn, D’Argo, Zhaan, and Stark aboard Talyn with a proposal to disarm the young warship and provide it with safer, non-lethal defenses. This will help the fugitive captain maintain a lower profile, so he has arranged to buy a Dampening Net from Plokavian traders. When the trading ship arrives, however, Talyn’s weapons open fire and destroys it. Crais puts the others into their transport pod and Starbursts away, but before they can reach Moya, another group of Plokavians captures them and places them on trial. Each is interrogated separately, and each tells a somewhat different story. What is the truth? Why are they hiding it? And who will pay the ultimate price to keep the secret?

Season 3 Stargate Stargate Atlantis

McKay And Mrs. Miller

Stargate AtlantisRodney is called back to Earth to deal with a family emergency – his sister, Jeanie Miller, has written a scientific proof that could be a turning point in Atlantis’ energy problems, drawing zero point energy through a bridge to a parallel universe, on a scale much larger than a ZPM could provide. But Jeanie won’t sign a confidentiality agreement with the U.S. government that would allow her to do further research with the Stargate program. Though Carter hopes Rodney can talk her into helping, it quickly becomes apparent that Rodney is even less likely to convince his sister, not having spoken to her since she abandoned a promising career in theoretical physics to start a family. After a short demonstration that the Stargate program is for real, and interstellar and intergalactic travel are possible, she agrees to return to Atlantis to help test her theory. The one thing that she expects even less than all of these discoveries, however, is that along with energy from another universe, her theory will introduce her to another version of her brother from that universe. The alternate Rodney has a completely different personality, quickly endearing himself even to those Atlantis crew members who are tired of their own version of him. But his arrival could mean the end of both universes.

4th Doctor Doctor Who The Audio Dramas

Serpent Crest Part 1: Tsar Wars

Doctor WhoThe Doctor and Mrs. Wibbsey are abducted from Nest Cottage by robots and transported via wormhole to another world. Stuck without the TARDIS, the Doctor and Mrs. Wibbsey are surrounded by robots who outwardly resemble humans, the remnants of the Robotov Empire. They want the Doctor’s help with their future leader, a cyborg child named Alexander. There’s other intrigue as well: the robots are former slaves of a human colony whose leader fancies himself the descendant of Russian Tsars, and worse yet, he’s convinced that the Doctor is a rebel leader named Father Gregory. One of the robots whisks Mrs. Wibbsey away through another wormhole to meet Father Gregory personally (and he is, indeed, the spitting image of the Doctor, give or take a beard). When the Doctor learns that Father Gregory has made a deal with an immensely dangerous race known as the Skishtari, and has an egg containing the gene banks of the Skishtari, he decides to solve two problems at once: Alexander and his ward, Boolin, will be sent back to Earth to take shelter in Nest Cottage, where the Skishtari egg can also be placed in statis and prevented from hatching. Of course, this entire plan hinges on the Robotovs’ wormholes being more accurate than the TARDIS…

Doctor Who New Series Season 07

Dinosaurs On A Spaceship

Doctor WhoWith a motley retinue of companions and helpers in tow – ranging from Amy, Rory, and Rory’s bewildered dad to a big game hunter and Queen Nefertiti of Egypt – the Doctor boards a spaceship on a collision course for 22nd century Earth, quickly discovering that it has a live cargo: dinosaurs from Earth’s past. The Doctor, Rory, and Rory’s dad find themselves in the ship’s control area, herded by strangely-behaved robots toward a meeting with the ship’s captain, while Amy and the others discover that whoever’s in charge of the ship now isn’t the one who loaded and launched it. The man in charge, a vicious space pirate named Solomon, hijacked the ship from its Silurian crew and killed them, intending to sell the specimens of the extinct dinosaur species on the black market. Solomon wants the Doctor to heal the injuries he suffered as a result, but the Doctor knows something he doesn’t: the Indian Space Agency has launched missiles toward the ship to destroy it before it collides with the planet. No matter what threats Solomon makes, the dinosaurs, along with the last Time Lord, may be facing extinction once more.

Doctor WhoCast: Matt Smith (The Doctor), Karen Gillan (Amy Pond), Arthur Darvill (Rory Williams), Rupert Graves (Riddell), Mark Williams (Brian Williams), David Bradley (Solomon), Riann Steele (Queen Nefertiti), Sunetra Sarker (Indira), Noel Byrne (Robot 1), Richard Garaghty (Robot 2), Richard Hope (Bleytal), Rudi Dharmalingam (ISA Worker), David Mitchell (Robot 1 voice), Robert Webb (Robot 2 voice)

Notes: Mark Williams is probably best known now for appearing as Ron Weasley’s father in the Harry Potter movies; longtime fans of British SF may also recognize him as Red Dwarf’s Swedish crewmember Petersen, or as one of the wayward alien leads of Red Dwarf co-creator Rob Grant’s short-lived SF comedy The Doctor WhoStrangerers. This is the first on-screen evidence that the Silurians were capable of space travel; the Doctor’s previous encounters with them all involved enclaves of Silurians who opted to wait out the Earth’s extinction event in underground chambers. It could be that the Silurian space ark was a more desperate, radical attempt to preserve the Earth’s species. Ironically, this also gives the Silurians – normally enemies of the human race – something in common with their foes: both species, faced with imminent extinction-level events on Earth, took to space to preserve the planet’s life forms (also see Nerva Beacon in The Ark In Space). There seems to be no indication that other Silurian ships were launched. The notion of an artificially constructed beach providing the ship with hydroelectric power matches up well with previous evidence of Earthbound Silurians utilizing geothermal power. The Doctor’s warning about messing with Egyptian queens comes from experience; this may be a reference to the Big Finish audio stories, in which the fifth Doctor traveled with Erimem, the first female Pharaoh, following an attempt on her life.
