Ace Of Wands Season 2

Seven Serpents, Sulphur And Salt – Episode 1

Ace Of WandsMr. Christopher, an acquaintance of Mr. Sweet’s, rushes into Sweet’s bookstore while Lulli is watching the shop. He asks Lulli where Sweet can be reached, and then wants to call him, hiding a piece of paper in one of the books in the shop while Lulli looks for the phone number. But before much of a conversation can take place, a man named Luko appears out of thin air, killing Mr. Christopher and then looking for something until Lulli walks in. Luko vanishes again just as the door opens, leaving Lulli to find Mr. Christopher’s cobweb-covered corpse. Tarot, Sam and Mr. Sweet converge on the store, and Mr. Christopher’s walking stick, imbued with some kind of magical power, directs them to the paper – a scrap of 14th century paper with a drawing of a serpent. Mr. Sweet consults with the verger at a nearby church about the possible meaning and importance of the paper, only to be met with a horrified response. Tarot and Sam, expecting the killer to return to the bookstore in search of the paper, lay a trap, but this time Luko appears with his employer, the sinister Mr. Stabs, who seems to have considerable magical powers of his own – enough to stop Tarot in his tracks. Mr. Sweet and the church verger return with bad news: an exorcism, complete with chalk circles on the floor, will have to be performed on all who have touched the paper. During this ritual, the hand-drawn serpent becomes a real snake – and a terrified Lulli steps out of the protection of her circle.

Ace Of WandsCast: Michael Mackenzie (Tarot), Judy Loe (Lulli), Tony Selby (Sam), Donald Layne-Smith (Mr. Sweet), Russell Hunter (Mr. Stabs), Ian Trigger (Luko), Harriet Harper (Polandi), Llewellyn Rees (Mr. Christopher), Jack Woolgar (Charlie Postle)

Notes: This is the premiere of Ace Of Wands’ second season, but along with the rest of the second season, is missing due to ITV’s policy of erasing and reusing then-expensive videotape in the 1970s. This synopsis is based on the original scripts (included as bonus features on Network DVD’s box set release of the surviving third season) as well as very low-quality audio recordings of the episode in question.

Deepwater Black Mission Genesis

Awakening

Deepwater Black / Mission GenesisA young woman named Yuna awakens from cryogenic sleep aboard a ship that’s lurching unpredictably through space. Other cryogenic containers open gradually, revealing the rest of her crewmates, though none of them – including Yuna – can remember their names or their shipboard functions at first.

Yuna and a young man named Reb regain enough of their memories to realize that their ship is being attacked, and manage to evade the attack by jumping into hyperspace – but whoever is firing on them continues the pursuit, and they can’t run forever. The others begin to recall their jobs: Zak is a cybernetics expert, and immediately sets about trying to repair the onboard computer and its holographic interface, Gen. Lise is medically trained, while the aggressive Bren comfortably steps back into his function as the ship’s security chief. Gret seems to be the crew’s communications expert. But all of them will have to remember how to do their jobs quickly in order to survive the next attack…

Cast: Gordon Michael Woolvett (Reb), Nicole de Boer (Yuna), Jason Cadieux (Bren), Julie Khan (Gen), Craig Kirkwood (Zak), Sara Sahr (Lise), Kelli Taylor (Gret)

Deepwater BlackNotes: Aired in the U.S. as Mission Genesis on Sci-Fi Channel, this series – based on a series of young adult SF novels by Canadian writer Ken Catran – was partially bankrolled by Sci-Fi Channel and was billed as the first Sci-Fi Channel original series. The cast is filled with faces familiar to viewers of Canadian-produced drama series (a category that also crosses over with many later Sci-Fi Channel original series). The television series diverges from the books in everything from minor story details to major elements such as the characters’ names. Composer Fred Mollin had previously scored such Canadian-produced TV series as Friday The 13th: The Series (and some of the later movies from that franchise), Forever Knight, TekWar and episodes of the new Outer Limits.

Season 04 SG-1 Stargate

Crossroads

Stargate SG-1The gate is activated with Bra’tac’s ID code, but the woman who steps into the SGC is obviously not Bra’tac. She is Shau’nac, an old flame of Teal’c, who claims to have developed the ability to separate her consciousness from that of her symbiote and can use that ability to convince the Goa’uld within her that its agenda is evil. Bra’tac has sent Shau’nac to teach this ability to the Tok’ra so that they may use it against the Goa’uld. At first, General Hammond is suspicious, and the Tok’ra scientist Anise is contacted, so that the Tok’ra can assess the situation without revealing their current base of operations. As she awaits the Tok’ra’s decision, Shau’nac shows Teal’c how to communicate with his symbiote – and urges him to leave SG-1 to help her spread this knowledge among all Jaffa.

Farscape Season 2

Look at the Princess Part 1: A Kiss Is But a Kiss

FarscapeAeryn and Crichton find themselves getting closer while working in cramped surroundings, but Aeryn quickly derails the romantic encounter before it can get started. Soon after, the crew encounters one of the Breakaway Colonies, worlds settled by Sebaceans that are independent of the Peacekeepers and neutral in their conflict with the Scarrans. Relaxing in a nightclub, they observe one of the planet’s courtship rituals – a man and woman place a drop of liquid on their tongues and then kiss; the resultant taste reveals the two’s genetic compatibility or lack thereof. One of the club’s patrons, Katralla, is particularly urgent in her search. She is heir to the planet’s throne, but unless she can find a mate in the next two days, she will lose her status and the throne will pass to her younger brother Clavor. What Katralla doesn’t know is that Clavor has sabotaged her DNA, mutating it to be incompatible with any Sebacean. But what Clavor doesn’t know is that the mutations make her compatible with humans. So when Katralla performs the ritual with Crichton, there is much rejoicing – on everyone’s part but Crichton, who’s less than eager to enter an arranged marriage. The planet’s matriarch has one more ace up her sleeve – Scorpius has arrived, and Crichton has just two options: marry the princess, or be turned over to the Peacekeeper.

Season 10 SG-1 Stargate

Morpheus

Stargate SG-1Daniel determines that Morgana Le Fey may be connected to Merlin’s anti-Ancient device; he speculates that Morgana might have been another descended Ancient who feared the potential of Merlin’s weapon and therefore tried to hide it. Daniel also uses the legend of Sir Gawain to help narrow the search for the three lands that Arthur supposedly traveled to in his search for the Grail. He finds a gate address in one of the books recovered from Merlin’s library in Camelot. SG-1 gets a go to explore the planet, but Vala must remain behind. Even though Landry is inclined to let her work with SGC because of her past sacrifices and her connection to Adria, Vala must pass a psychiatric exam in order to assuage any concerns from the Pentagon.

On the planet, SG-1 discovers a village that seems deserted – until they find a couple deceased in their beds. A medical officer gates in to examine the bodies, with two officers who have not had time to rest from their last mission. The team heads into nearby caves to explore, but finds nothing. They decide to call it a night and head home, until they realize that one of the escort officers has fallen asleep – and isn’t waking up again. The doctor confirms that they are all affected by some kind of mysterious condition, one that ensures that if they fall asleep, they won’t wake up. Even worse, the condition is making all of them even more tired.

At SGC, Vala’s efforts to outwit the psych test only dig her in deeper. More and more frustrated, she begins to think there is no chance that she will pass. Woolsey arrives with an offer from the IOA – the advisory council is not sure that SGC is being fully open about their operations. So the IOA is prepared to ensure that Vala passes the examination . . . if she agrees to report back to the IOA on the goings-on of the Stargate program.
