Atari 2600 Game Catalog

Every kid saw these catalogs. And every kid wanted damn near every game in it - well, with the possible exception of Math Gran Prix. (Oh, who are we kidding? Somebody probably thought that was cool too.) These are scanned pages from Atari's 1981/82 VCS game catalog, complete with assurances that Pac-Man and Defender differ only slightly from the originals.

From a design/layout standpoint, Atari's VCS catalog wasted a lot of space, and in the interest of keeping graphic sizes (and therefore load times) to an acceptable minimum, we have elected to not include their section header artwork and those bits of artwork which just floated out in the middle of nowhere to fill space. We realize some purists may cry foul on this one, but these catalog scans are here to serve as a historical reference (and a bit of fun), and it takes up a lot of space on the site, so we had to make a bit of a compromise somewhere.

Another note - we've included pages from both the 45-title catalog and the 49-title catalog. If a game was given a full two-page spread in one catalog, but only a one-column blurb in another, we gave the full spread priority. So it's only fitting that our scanned catalog differs slightly from the originals. (Pages scanned from the newer 49-title catalog are noted as such below each image.)
