Babylon 5 / Crusade Season 4

Lines of Communication

Babylon 5Delenn is alarmed by the arrival of an emissary from Minbar who warns her of impending civil war on her home world. She sets out on a journey back home to try to quell the impending conflict. With all supply lines to the station cut off, and ISN broadcasting the official propoganda line that Babylon 5 is the staging ground for the subversion of Earth, Sheridan tries to come up with a way to fight the hail of lies being fed to the general populace. His answer is to revamp the war room into a broadcast studio and begin transmitting the “Voice of the Resistance” from there with your host, the very reluctant (and tired) Susan Ivanova. Terrorist attacks on Mars create a tense situation for Franklin, who is trying to enlist the help of the rebels on Mars – but not if they continue to use those tactics. Delenn discovers that the Minbari emissary Forell has sold out to a race called the Drakh, who have their own plans for Minbar. And Delenn is sure that there is a connection between the Drakh and the Shadows.

Conflicts of Interest

Babylon 5Preparations are under way for the first “Voice of the Resistance” broadcast from B5, but the one thing no one has been able to figure out is how to get the signal from the station to anywhere outside of the sector. Franklin, having just returned from Mars, suggests using the almost limitless power at Draal’s disposal on Epsilon 3. In response to his recent arguments with Garibaldi, and sensing that the security chief will not be returning to take back his job, Sheridan orders Zack to confiscate Garibaldi’s sidearm, identicard and link. Zack reluctantly carries out his orders, unaware that Garibaldi keeps a spare identicard. Wade, who earlier urged Garibaldi to betray Sheridan, enlists Garibaldi’s help to get an unspecified visitor through station security – and the visitor turns out to be Lise Hampton, Garibaldi’s ex-girlfriend, with a mysterious cargo in her possession. Garibaldi skirts his own security teams to get Lise through customs, but the result is a vicious firefight and promise from Sheridan that he’ll be put off the station if he is involved in any more trouble. And Ivanova finally kicks off her first newscast with the help of the family of an old friend.

Rumors, Bargains and Lies

Babylon 5Londo and G’Kar are persuaded by Sheridan to permit the White Star fleet to patrol their borders. Fearing that the leaders of the non-aligned worlds will balk at the idea of his fleet flying along their territory, Sheridan concocts a convoluted scheme to hint at suspicious happenings along the aliens’ borders but withholding his help until it is requested. En route to Minbar to deal with political upheavals that have finally erupted into civil war, Delenn vows to end the conflict single-handedly. She believes that her disbanding the Grey Council has left Minbar without leadership, and the resulting conflicts are her fault. Neroon of the warrior caste meets with her, and despite his past disagreements with her, he agrees with Delenn that they will reach an amicable solution which will not require either of their castes to surrender. But Delenn’s own religious caste followers believe that her private meetings with Neroon will result in a betrayal of her own people, and plan to ritually sacrifice themselves and anyone else on board to prevent it. And on the station, Sheridan’s cunning plan could backfire unless he stoops just low enough to plant some the right information in the right places. Neroon, departing to return to his fellow warriors, intends to make sure than Delenn’s peace plan backfires.

Worst Case Scenario

Star Trek: VoyagerStardate 50953.4: Chakotay startles B’Elanna by recruiting her for a Maquis mutiny, and then proceeds to carry it out. Things get even stranger when Seska turns up as one of the mutineers. Suddenly Paris walks into the scene, revealing the fact that Torres is playing a holo-novel. The experience was designed by Tuvok as a training exercise shortly after the joining of the two crews when the security officer felt that a mutiny was a real possibility. The fresh literary material is so intriguing to the crew that many of them begin surreptitiously playing the program and Janeway instructs Tuvok to write an ending and make it more than a training exercise. But Seska had discovered the program before she defected to the Kazon and she rewrote the subroutines to take her revenge on Tuvok for having betrayed the Maquis back when they were still in the Alpha Quadrant.

The room she occupied during the height of the war is too expensive for her, a visit to Garibaldi seeking work almost but doesn’t quite work due to the insistent disapproval of Garibaldi’s new employer, William Edgars of Mars, and the only other offer of work she gets is from Zack, who wants the evasive former security chief scanned without permission.
