Needless to say, no trick-or-treating took place this year&#8230; and no one came to the house this year, since Xena&#8217;s doghouse has been relocated to the front of the house.  (Xena goes as Cujo every Halloween.)<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, me and my three-year-old boy spent all weekend exploring one of the most enduring and conceptually disturbing survival-horror video game franchises of all time.  Strong stuff for a pre-schooler, you say?  Sure it is, but it&#8217;s <em>all so innocent<\/em>. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;d think there&#8217;s nothing big about a game where you&#8217;re exploring a twisty maze of dark tunnels, infested with ghostly spirits, but <strong>these ghostly spirits will actually <em>consume your flesh<\/em> if they catch you<\/strong>, and there&#8217;s precious little you can do about it &#8211; the only ammo you have to retaliate is extremely limited.  Holy <em>crap<\/em>, but that&#8217;s disturbing stuff!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thelogbook.media\/phosphor\/arc1\/pacman3.gif\" alt=\"EEEEEEEEEEKKK!\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And then you click a notch or two over on your emulator \/ retro collection of choice, and the ghosts will also consume your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelogbook.media\/phosphor\/1982\/ms-pac-man\/\">spouse<\/a> or your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelogbook.media\/phosphor\/1983\/jr-pac-man\/\">kids<\/a>!  Or your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelogbook.media\/phosphor\/1983\/pac-n-pal\/\">unspecified pal of vague origin<\/a>!
