In case anyone&#8217;s wondering:<\/p>\n<p>Hartnell &#8211; the logo and the Rorshach-test-like blob from which it emerges<br \/>\nTroughton &#8211; the little B&#038;W blippy bits at the side, and vague shapes moving past at the top and bottom<br \/>\nPertwee &#8211; red diamond-shaped&#8230;.thingies<br \/>\nTom Baker &#8211; the round tunnel is there, very faintly, but the Flash compression pretty much knocks it out here<br \/>\nDavison &#8211; starfield<br \/>\nColin Baker &#8211; starfield moving in reverse at the beginning<br \/>\nMcCoy &#8211; the rotating TARDIS-in-a-bubble at the beginning<br \/>\nMcGann &#8211; the blue clouds with vaguely asteroid-shaped holes shooting past<br \/>\nEccleston\/Tennant &#8211; red clouds &#038; green\/gold rings<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;explosion&#8221; at the beginning is also from the McGann movie; that was actually the Master exploding!  The Pertwee &#8220;diamonds&#8221; were the element I screwed with the most; they were previously static, though here I sort of strongarmed them into becoming a moving &#8220;tunnel&#8221; element that very slowly moves past.  That took a bit of render time&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thelogbook.com\/earl\/hizzouse\/q4-06\/whorender.jpg\" alt=\"Doctor Who and the Video Rendering of Doom\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Luma keying is different from chromakeying; chromakeying, as the name implies, &#8220;keys&#8221; out a specific color &#8211; usually blue or green &#8211; and replaces it with something else.  Luma keying keys out areas of user-specified brightness or darkness &#8211; in a way, it&#8217;s almost on a level with 50s\/early 60s special effects, except that doing it in the digital realm means you can retain some softness to the edges of whatever area you&#8217;re allowing to be &#8220;seen through.&#8221;  It&#8217;s still kinda clumsy.<\/p>\n<p>Cue up some music and give it a try (the &#8220;Delware Version&#8221; of the theme matches up disturbingly well).  It&#8217;s fun (and maybe just a little bit of a godawful mess)!
