Big Finish Productions has just unleashed the third adventure in the acclaimed “alternate universe” miniseries Doctor Who Unbound, Full Fathom Five. Starring David Collings (Elizabeth R, numerous past episodes of Doctor Who and Blake’s 7, The Thirty-Nine Steps) and Ed Bishop (The Saint, Star Trek: The Animated Series, Highlander: The Series, UFO, and 2001: a space odyssey), Full Fathom Five is said to be the “most traditional” of the Unbound audio stories…but how traditional is that? Find out now – Doctor Who Unbound: Full Fathom Five is now available in theLogBook.com Store.
* = from Shakespeare’s The Tempest, just like “full fathom five.” It just seemed appropriate somehow.

It’s been four years since he led the crew of the Excalibur in the short-lived Babylon 5 spinoff series Crusade, but now Gary Cole is back – and occupying a much higher office as a newly-appointed Vice President to fellow B5 alum Martin Sheen’s chief executive on The West Wing. Mirroring the departure of creator Aaron Sorkin earlier this year, the show’s last season portrayed an upheaval which included the ousting of the existing VP, and Cole’s character is said to have some unconventional ideas on running the country. It’s not known if the Apocalypse Box will be appointed to the cabinet.
In a quote reprinted in the British press and widely attributed to Blake’s 7 revival producer Andrew Mark Sewell (though it should be noted that Sewell has not confirmed or expanded on these comments elsewhere), an animated remake of the original Blake’s 7 episodes may be in the works, supposedly relying heavily on CGI. The fan response to these comments has been colorful (and that’s putting it rather politely). No further comment has been forthcoming from Sewell or Blake’s 7 Enterprises (run by Sewell and former B7 star Paul Darrow).
Among the tales of mystery and imagination fans have wondered about for years is: whatever happened to Eric Woolfson, Alan Parsons’ cohort from the original Alan Parsons Project? As it turns out, Woolfson is working on a new album which will also form the basis of a new musical, Poe: More Tales Of Mystery And Imagination. This new project (so to speak) brings Woolfson full-circle to the source material that inspired the very first Alan Parsons Project, Tales Of Mystery And Imagination: Edgar Allan Poe, back in 1976. Unlike some of Woolfson’s prior stage musicals, it’s important to note that he’s written all-new songs for Poe, rather than continuing his past practice of recycling past Project songs and weaving a story around them. Woolfson provides lead vocals on one half of the album, and is currently seeking backing for the stage production. We’ll have pre-order information on the CD as soon as possible.
She’s back – back in the acting business, that is. Babylon 5 alumnus Andrea Thompson, late of CNN Headline News, is getting back in front of the cameras, but they’re not the news cameras. Thompson has landed a role in the upcoming third season of Fox’s 24. (No word on whether or not she’ll be trying to get back into the news after her 24 gig.)
If you haven’t had a chance to go and buy the first-season Xena: Warrior Princess DVD box set…you’re in luck. Anchor Bay is re-releasing the entire set, now with commentaries added by Lucy Lawless and Renee O’Connor. While fans who haven’t put money on the table for this set as of yet will be delighted, there’s no word on allowing owners of the original set to upgrade – thus setting up a really dangerous precedent in the DVD box set industry. The upcoming season two box set, however, will already have commentary on several episodes.
