Don’t Look Back

Heroes, Season 01 - premiered on Monday, October 2, 2006

HeroesPeter Petrelli’s attempt to fly brings him in for a rough landing in the hospital. When Peter remembers that his brother Nathan flew, Nathan quickly “corrects” the story, fearing the impact on his Congressional campaign. Mohinder Suresh, who’s had an unnerving encounter with an American he spotted in his father’s home in India, is becoming paranoid; he’s convinced that his father not only proved the existence of humans who had evolved into beings with what most people would call “super powers,” but was actually tracking many such individuals. His fears that he is being followed, and that his father’s research is being sought by a shady organization with seemingly limitless resources, turn out to be entirely accurate. Elsewhere in New York, Hiro - having just teleported himself from Tokyo - finds a comic book depicting his arrival and decides to track down its artist, Isaac Mendez, only to find him dead with his head sliced open and his brain removed. A similar murder occurs across the country in Los Angeles, and LAPD officer Matt Parkman - assigned to direct traffic at the scene - hears a voice in his head that leads him to a missing little girl, but that raises suspicions among his fellow officers and leads to his arrest. One name links that crime scene, a threatening conversation recorded on Suresh’s father’s answering machine: Sylar. During Hiro’s questioning for Mendez’ murder, he witnesses something horrible and realizes that he has glimpsed the same future that Mendez saw: the destruction of New York City.

LostFlashback: As Jack’s divorce nears completion, he obsesses over the identity of Sarah’s new lover. He attempts to track her cell phone usage, and discovers that she had at some point called his father. He follows his father to an AA meeting and accuses him of sleeping with his wife. Henry Gale orders Goodwin and Ethan to infiltrate the survivors.

In the present, Jack is in a cell. Juliet tries to get him to take food, but he resists. Sawyer is in a cage that resembles an animal behavior experiment. The Occupation

Season 3, Battlestar Galactica (New) - premiered on Friday, October 6, 2006

Battlestar GalacticaOver four months after the Cylon occupation began on New Caprica and the Colonial fleet departed, the struggle between the Cylons and the resistance have turned into all-out war, with the insurgency hitting higher and higher profile targets. The resistance has paid a cost, however: Tigh has been taken prisoner, tortured and released only when his wife strikes a bargain with one of the human Cylons that she’s uniquely qualified to fulfill. There have been other setbacks: the growing ranks of the New Caprica Police have divided the humans and set them against each other, especially when those “peacekeepers” mask their identity. Starbuck has been taken prisoner by the Leoben Cylon, who traps her in a nightmarish domestic illusion that eventually grows to include a daughter grown from one of Starbuck’s own ovaries. Tyrol and Tigh await communication from the Galactica - but others are convinced that the fleet will never return. Indeed, Admiral Adama is biding his time to return (and awaiting communication from New Caprica), though he can’t seem to agree with his son, in command of the Pegasus, on how to rescue the rest of the human race.

Precipice

Season 3, Battlestar Galactica (New) - premiered on Friday, October 6, 2006

Battlestar GalacticaAfter Duck’s suicide bombing of the graduation of the first class of New Caprica Police, The Cylon leaders demand a crackdown in the form of an executive order giving anyone even suspected of helping the resistance a mandatory death sentence. This includes Laura Roslin, Cally, and even Baltar’s former campaign manager, Tom Zarek, but Baltar refuses to sign the order until the Cylon literally put a gun to his head. Tigh, Tyrol and Anders finally get a signal from Galactica: Adama is sending an officer from the fleet to coordinate the resistance. But not everyone in the resistance may be inclined to follow Boomer’s lead. Nor is everyone in the New Caprica Police inclined to do what they’re told by the Cylons.
