Yamato: Hazarding A Surprise Attack!

Star BlazersHaving spent so much time battling the Comet Empire base at Brumis, the Argo crew risks a warp inside the solar system to reach Saturn in time. Captain Gideon of the Andromeda welcomes the former renegades back to the fleet, and orders Wildstar to take the Argo and several other ships and outflank the Empire’s oncoming fleet of carriers. He also orders Wildstar to make sure that the most direct route of escape for any surviving Empire ships will lead them to Saturn, where the Andromeda and the rest of the Earth fleet will be laying in wait. Sandor and IQ-9 tag along with the advance, discovering the Empire fleet lurking near one of Saturn’s moons. Wildstar orders the rest of Argo’s Cosmo Fighters to launch, and personally pilots a fighter to lead the Black Tigers into battle.

Battlestar Galactica (Classic Series) Season 1

Greetings From Earth

Battlestar Galactica (original)A sleeper ship is recovered in deep space, containing six frozen human beings. Given their ship’s primitive technology and unknown origins, it becomes widely speculated that the six humans are from Earth itself, which may be closer than anyone realized. This theory, however, begins to crumble when the humans are revived – and instantly find the atmosphere aboard Galactica poisonous. Worse yet, the rumors of living Earth people are dividing the loyalties of the Colonial fleet, and Adama fears for their safety. Apollo, Cassiopea and Starbuck quietly escort the humans away from the fleet, and ferry them to the planet Paradeen, which was to have been their destination. But their arrival comes too late – all human life on Paradeen has been exterminated, courtesy of a neutron bomb launched by the Eastern Alliance from the humans’ home planet of Terra. When Eastern Alliance soldiers arrive on Paradeen to hunt down the final remaining humans, the Galactica officers get involved in the Terrans’ war – a decision which will shortly prove to be messier than they could ever imagine.

Hail To The Chief

SupertrainSupertrain has already hosted royalty, but Harry Flood is especially on edge as he tries to whip his crew into shape ahead of President William Phillips boarding for a cross-country, election-night trip. But despite the presence of the Secret Service, security is still not tight enough – a lookalike swaps places with Phillips, and begins wooing the first lady. After just one night, however, she’s picked up on the different between the man she’s been with and her uptight, always-in-campaign-mode husband. But is she inclined to warn the authorities about what’s happened?

written by Robert I. Holt
directed by Barry Crane
music by Bob Cobert

SupertrainCast: Edward Andrews (Harry Flood), Patrick Collins (David Noonan), Harrison Page (George Boone), Robert Alda (Dr. Lewis), Nita Talbot (Rose Casey), Aarika Wells (Gilda), William Nuckols (Wally), Michael DeLano (Lou Atkins), Charlie Brill (Robert), Loretta Swit (Alice Phillips), Scott Brady (Forbes), Victor Buono (Misto), Roy Thinnes (William Phillips / Eddy Barnes), Billy Barty (Mick), Joe Gieb (Mack), Michael Minor (Passenger), Woody Eney (Passenger), John Shubeck (himself), Kelly Lange (herself), Warren Olney (himself)

SupertrainNotes: Unusually, Supertrain uses real NBC news reporters in a fictional setting, a practice that always raises discussion among employees and management of a news operation. It’s worth noting that Supertrain was the pet project of NBC’s then-president and CEO, Fred Silverman, who likely had the clout to overcome any such objections from within NBC News. Victor Buono (1938-1982) had recently appeared as the recurring villain, Mr. Schubert, on Man From Atlantis, but may still be best known to genre audiences at King Tut, one of the villains who made Batman‘s 1960s TV life difficult. Loretta Swit was yet another M*A*S*H veteran appearing on Supertrain, though here it was a side gig, as she was still playing Major Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan on that long-running sitcom. Supertrain!

Courage: The Death Of Captain Hijikata!

Star BlazersThe Earth and Comet Empire fleets mass at Saturn for the decisive battle, but the initial engagements end with heavy Earth casualties – the Comet Empire’s shock cannons are able to literally vibrate the Earth destroyers to pieces before the EDF ships can get close enough to use their Wave Motion guns. Gideon orders a retreat to Saturn, and the Comet Empire pursues, decimating the Earth fleet as they advance. Gideon takes a chance on ordering his ships to hide inside Saturn’s outermost ring, giving Wildstar and the Argo time to attack the enemy from behind. The rear attack forces the Empire ships into the ice ring, where their next attack backfires, giving the Andromeda, Argo and the other Earth ships a window of opportunity to strike back. But the victory is short-lived when the White Comet itself appears, having warped into the solar system. The Argo is among its first targets, receiving damage so critical that Wildstar orders all hands to abandon ship.

The Keeper Of Eight – Part 1

Alien WorldsConducting experiments with hydrogen plasma in two small, self-contained space station labs positioned safely away from Starlab, Maura and physicist Dr. Paul Kramer are startled when a large, bat-like, jet-black spacecraft approaches them. Kramer’s lab pod is destroyed, while Maura is caught outside in the middle of a spacewalk. Examining a new ISA vehicle, the Solaris, Graydon and Buddy receive the distress signal and set out in the Solaris to help. Maura is found barely alive inside the hydrogren tank in her lab pod – a tank with no opening large enough for a human being to enter. As she tries to find out what happened to her, a non-corporeal being of pure energy named Echo appears, revealing that it transported her inside the tank to save her life. As for the black spacecraft, its occupants, the Draconians, want more hydrogen…and they’re planning to steal it from Earth’s atmosphere.
