Matt Smith's a helluva guy

Postby Earl » Thu Dec 29, 2011 2:37 am

Sometime back in my blog, about the time Tennant announced his retirement from the TARDIS, I recall saying that his successor really needs to have the kind of tireless energy it takes to do the endless rounds of promotional and personal appearances that the show demands of its star... in other words, more Tom Baker than Christopher Eccleston.

I may not be crazy about the scripts he winds up with, but Matt Smith comes across as a helluva guy. [LINK]

A TEENAGER’S dream came true when he met Doctor Who during a Christmas party at 10 Downing Street. Ross Berman, 13, of Dickens Rise, Chigwell, spoke to actor Matt Smith, who plays the TV time lord, at the event, which was organised by Starlight Children’s Foundation.

His mother, Jane Berman, who joined him there, said: “Ross was absolutely thrilled to meet Doctor Who. He’s a real fan. Matt Smith came running down Downing Street and ran up to Ross and said ‘I’ve come all the way from Gallifrey to see you’.”

This is hardly the first appearance Matt has put in for charity either. He's made himself available for a crazy amount of this stuff, when you'd think he'd be spending every non-filming minute hiding under a blanket and catching up on his sleep, and you know, I doubt anyone would blame him for that either.

To further explain why I like the current cast better than I like most of their characters, I present to you the following exhibits:

1. Grab some Kleenex.

2. Read this.

3. Read this.
