Kasatochi gets Wibbly Wobbly
After the collections of Star Trek and Star Wars music, this was pretty much inevitable, wasn’t it? This collection includes musical tributes to the world’s longest-running sci-fi series, taking in themes from both the classic and new series. Sorry for the lack of bloggage. And the lack of tunes. Here’s a blog entry with some free tunes attached.
To be fair, this is not a franchise that’s short on awesome video game music, but with this release, Kasatochi rolls the tape back a bit and beeps up the music of the three movies of the original trilogy, with an emphasis on the first one. Yes, there will be a prequel trilogy album; no, I’m not sure exactly when just yet.
So you just can’t get enough of Kasatochi, and you need something to do? Fine, fine, but not tonight. How about today? How about an Expansion Pack EP of chiptune covers centered on a particular group whose sound has always been on the electronic side of things? This ought to be interesting. It might even breathe some new life into things, or it might annoy some fans of said group, who harbor a kind of strange love for everything they do. There’s only one way to find out. …

Kasatochi is back yet again, this time with a full-CD-length collection of tunes that doesn’t slow down a whole lot. This one also has the first cover that’s actually fairly recent (check out track 6!).
It’s Friday! It’s actually a nice day! There should be music to mark this occasion! Bleepy music, preferably. Fear not, Kasatochi has you covered for the second time in a week.
Kasatochi has already done collections themed to specific eras, artists, and even TV/movie franchises, and it will continue to do collections with those themes. But this collection of chiptune covers centers on a specific album. Namely, one of the best albums ever to hit our ears. It’s not intended to be a replacement or a remix of that album, but is instead just a fun attempt to reinterpret it all through the sonic filter of late ’80s video game systems. What would it sound like if the Fab Four had done video game music? Well, it might have sounded like this. …

When I embarked on my little musical joke a little over a month ago, I wasn’t anticipating that it’d gain the kind of traction that it has.
