Sometime back I threw together a fun little video mash-up celebrating the entire history of a certain long-lived, apparently-indestructible sci-fi series in the space of 35 minutes. I briefly posted it to the web and a few folks seemed to really enjoy it. Now I just happen to be working on a new version, completely from scratch.
Many of the clips are the same, many of the clips are also different. Stuff shows up in different order. And it’s almost certain to be several minutes longer because a few sections are being expanded to shed some light on aspects of the story that have gotten some unexpected revisions (hello, Rassilon?). I’ve also consciously approached the re-editing of some segments to make the whole thing a bit more fun – and funny. This certain show which shall remain nameless hasn’t made it too much of a habit to have its head up its own arse despite its wealth of mythology. This project should be like that too: it’s here to entertain and maybe rope some people in who are afraid that the whole backstory is impenetrable. And it really isn’t.
I’ll keep everyone posted on this. I’ve been working on it in my spare time lately, just to have something to smile about when the little guy’s not around. I figure if it entertains me, it’s got a good shot at doing the same with others.
