A lavish box set for a somewhat maligned season of the original series, this set gathers all four stories that made up the Trial Of A Time Lord season in 1986. Having been dealt a serious blow in the form of the series’ cancellation (which, after a massive public outcry, was hastily backpedaled into a “hiatus” that lasted 18 months), Doctor Who was suddenly on shaky ground. Both fans and the behind-the-scenes crew had grown accustomed to the show’s invulnerability in the ratings, and it proved to be a major shock.
