Doctor Who: Destiny Of The Daleks
A Dalek story regarded by many as a bit of a black sheep of the family, Destiny Of The Daleks pits Tom Baker’s Doctor against Davros for the second and final time, and pits Douglas Adams against late ’70s Terry Nation too. If there’s one surprising fact that one gleans from this DVD’s bonus features, it’s this: Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy creator (and then-Doctor Who script editor) Douglas Adams basically wrote this four-parter, regardless of Terry Nation’s name being front and center at the beginning of the show. For those who ever thought Destiny was a bit jokey and didn’t treat the Daleks with the appropriate weight and respect, that might be why. (more…)
