SpaceX finally ended the drought…they launched the first American astronauts from American soil since the final shuttle flight in 2011.

Just for fun, I used theLogBook’s timeline menu to put this in context. The last time American astronauts launched from American soil…

    • Matt Smith was the Doctor.
    • Black Mirror was about to premiere for the first time.
    • The Juno mission to Jupiter and the Curiosity Mars Rover were being readied for launch.
    • Torchwood was still on TV.
    • The Dawn mission was approaching asteroid Vesta, the first of its two stops in the asteroid belt.

In other words…it’s been a while. You can look up 2011 on the timeline here.
