From the Facebook page of Sandra Piller, widow of TNG/DS9/Voyager executive producer Michael Piller…

I am so excited to announce the publication of my late husband Michael Piller’s book “Fade In: The Making of Star Trek Insurrection”! It is being published as a textbook on screenwriting “from within the Star Trek Universe.”

We will be debuting it next week at ‪#‎STLV‬ and will be taking pre-orders!

    See you at the conventions!

This book, in an unfinished form, has been floating around the ‘net for ages if you knew what rocks to look under. It’s a warts-and-all telling of the behind-the-scenes push-pull-and-shove that went on between First Contact and Insurrection, complete with the egos of Patrick Stewart, Rick Berman, and various Paramount executives who didn’t know what kind of movie they really wanted. What was missing from the previously circulated unpublished version was 2-3 significantly different drafts of the script. The studio forbade it from being published before now, but with the anniversary (and a chance to practically print $$$) upon us and several regimes having come and gone in Paramount’s movie division since then, one has to imagine that all is forgiven, and folks wanna make some serious bank.
