    From International DIgital Times:

‘Winds Of Winter’ Release Date: George R.R. Martin’s Editor Suggests That 8 Books, Not 7, May Be Needed To Finish ‘A Song Of Ice And Fire’ Series

The “Winds of Winter” release date remains ever elusive as George R.R. Martin’s editor, Anne Lesley Groell, answered questions on Suvudu Universe. Groell is Executive Editor for Penguin Random House and works with authors that include George R.R. Martin, Terry Brooks and Robin Hobb. She works primarily in the sci-fi and fantasy publishing field. As George R.R. Martin’s editor, the bulk of her questions were naturally about the “Winds of Winter” release date and George R.R. Martin’s writing speed. As “Game of Thrones” enters season 4 and leaves us almost at the cusp of “A Dance With Dragons,” it seems increasingly unlikely that George R.R. Martin will be able to finish the book series before the show catches up to him.

I wonder if HBO will start streeeeeetching out the definition of a “season” (a la Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, Doctor Who), or if the show’s writers will just do their thing and then Martin can write novelizations to finish the series. 😆
