Betelgeuse, a supergiant red star only 700 light years away, is showing signs that it might explode into a supernova soon. It has dimmed 60% which is a potential indication that a supernova is forthcoming.
“Some astronomers speculated the the 60% swing detected between October last year and this April was related to an imminent supernova – imminent in cosmological terms that is, within the next 100,000 years.”
If it explodes this year, another sign of the end times. Then again it might be years (hundreds of years, thousands of years, one hundred thousand years…whatever..it’s still alarming!) before it explodes.
“All parts should go together without forcing. You must remember that the parts you are reassembling were disassembled by you. Therefore, if you can’t get them together again, there must be a reason. By all means, do not use a hammer.” —IBM Manual, 1925
