Film #141 - Robots (2005)

Robots, like many other borderline films, does improve with multiple viewings. The problems with the film that I previously mentioned are still in full effect, but a lack of anticipation means that there is no chance of being let down like the first time.

I still can’t help but think that there was more potential to be found in these characters than the filmmakers were able to get from them. I am still struck by how much time they waste showing off the impressive world they built rather than telling their story.

Still, with the exception of the annoying Aunt Fanny, there is little of the lowest-common-denominator stuff so common in animated films these days (particularly from Dreamworks). This makes Robots a relatively harmless film, worth a viewing or two. But it’s not something you’ll be coming back to very often.
