RoboCop: The Future Of Law Enforcement

RoboCop: The SeriesThe movie-length first episode of RoboCop: The Series premieres in syndication in the U.S., starring Richard Eden, Yvette Nipar, Blu Mankuma, and Andrea Roth. Based loosely on characters from the 1987 movie of the same name, the pilot is based on an unused script for a potential movie sequel, but the series has a decidedly more family-friendly, less gory tone. The draft of time

Doctor WhoStar Trek VI co-writer Denny Martin Flinn completes a screenplay draft for Doctor Who: The Movie, which is at this stage a big-screen reboot of the original series stuck in development hell. A British studio, Lumiere Pictures, has assigned several writers to write successive drafts of a movie version of the BBC series, often choosing to reboot the story rather than pick up where it left off. Eventually the series’ revival falls to a one-night-only TV movie being developed seperately by producer Philip Segal.

GOES-8 goes up

GOES-8NOAA’s GOES-8 Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite is launched from Cape Canaveral into a geosynchronous orbit now designated GOES-EAST to monitor weather patterns over the United States; its predecessor, GOES-7, takes up the GOES-WEST position. GOES-8 is a major design evolution in the GOES weather satellite series, incorporating new hardware, some of which proves to be less sturdy than is required for an extensive orbital tour of duty. GOES-8 will remain in the GOES-EAST orbit until it is retired from active weather-watching duty in 2003 and shut down in 2004.
